What I'm working on now

My legacy in the making

Yes, that’s me sitting on a toilet in the middle of a construction project.

And no, it’s not in the right place.

That’s the point.

When you’re building something new—whether it’s a business, a system, or a physical space—you’re going to get things wrong. Even when you plan carefully. Even when you think it through.

The toilet was set into hardened concrete… and it still ended up in the wrong spot.

That’s what real problem solving looks like.

You move forward, you learn, you adjust, and sometimes you move backward so you can move forward correctly.

So my approach is simple:

Find a path forward.
Keep going.
Fix what needs fixing.
Don’t panic.

And yes—we fixed the toilet.

Below are a few of the projects I’m actively building and working on right now.

Sea Spray Center for Arts and Education

Project: Lead the design, build-out, and operation of a performing arts and event center (www.SeaSprayCenter.org)

The Sea Spray Center is a working performing arts and event venue built from the ground up.

I lead both the physical build-out and the operational design of the space. This includes construction, layout design, infrastructure, budgeting, compliance, and ongoing operational planning.

The complexity comes from the intersection of physical construction and real-world use.

Every decision is made with both the build process and live events in mind, ensuring the space functions effectively in practice—not just on paper.

Klaus Financial

Project: Continue expanding our long-running accounting and financial advisory business serving small businesses (www.KlausFinancial.com)

Klaus Financial is an accounting and advisory firm focused on helping small business owners understand and manage their financial reality.

My role is centered on the business itself—developing the systems, infrastructure, and support that allow the firm to operate efficiently and scale. I manage the technical environment, oversee marketing and direct mail campaigns, build partnerships, and design the internal workflows that keep operations running smoothly.

This includes everything from backend systems and technology to organizational structure and process design. The work requires aligning technology, operations, and business strategy so that the accounting side of the firm can function at a high level.

It’s a continuous process of refining systems to improve efficiency, clarity, and long-term sustainability.

Oregon Coast Youth Project (OCYP)

Project: Build and operate a youth-focused nonprofit serving the local community (www.OregonCoastYouth.org)

The Oregon Coast Youth Project provides accessible programs and opportunities for kids in our community, funded through scholarships and supported by systems we’ve built from the ground up.

This goes beyond program development. I help build and manage the organization itself—structure, funding mechanisms, systems, partnerships, and ongoing operations.

The complexity comes from balancing mission, funding, logistics, and real-world constraints while continuing to grow.

It requires designing systems that function sustainably while still directly serving families.

Oregon Coast Dance Conservatory (OCDC)

Project: Design and operate a community-based dance studio and world-class training program (www.CatchTheDanceWave.com)

OCDC serves as both a community-oriented performing arts trianing program and an operational business.

I focus on building and maintaining the systems that allow the studio to function effectively day-to-day.This includes accounting, CMS systems, scheduling, facilities, pricing structures, and operational workflows that support administrators, instructors, and students.

The challenge is integrating creative programming with operational discipline. My role is to ensure the structure supports the mission without getting in the way of it.

The Small Business Guy

Project: Provide hands-on tech support, web design, and consulting for small businesses and individuals (www.TheSmallBusinessGuy.com)

The Small Business Guy is a local service focused on helping people solve real-world technology problems.

I provide web design, computer and technical support, training, and consulting for both small business owners and individuals. This is an offshoot of other work that I already do for my own businesses/projects.

The work ranges from troubleshooting and system setup to building websites and helping clients better understand and manage the tools they rely on every day.

At its core, this project is about making technology more approachable, functional, and useful for the people who depend on it and giving small business owners a leg up in critical areas where they may be weak.
